Being a boastful Penn State alumni, enthusiastic Penn State sports fan, and common football game attendee in Happy Valley, I have the actual Nittany Lion football game day program down to pretty much a science. We done it so many times that I can virtually tell you moment by moment the actual preparation and program We go through with my family. It all leads up to my personal favorite events of the year: Penn State football games.
There are 7 days annually that i absolutely love. Those are the 7 home games which Penn State plays football at State College, Pennsylvania. I’ve already been going to these types of games since I was in college, and its simply been the program for me and my family for several years. We do not skip a game if possible.
Seeing a game in Happy Valley is special. The actual atmosphere is as fine as it will get in college football. State College, Pennsylvania is in the actual middle of the state of Pennsylvania, and as you come down into town, it feels like everybody in the state is coming there with you. You believe way whenever you arrive within the parking lots and see the actual RVs and tailgaters as far as the eye can see.
My personal routine starts off early in the morning as I get myself and my family outfitted in Penn State apparel. For me, I never attend PSU football games without having wearing my lucky Penn State jersey. Because I love to sit within or close to the college student area, and they have the custom associated with wearing white for the Penn State “White Out” effect, I have a white Penn State football jersey. My spouse has a Penn State ladies jersey and my kids have Penn State youth jerseys.
Though the gear doesn’t stop with jerseys, as there’s a lot more. If it is cold, we might layer up with a Penn State sweatshirt too. A fleece one is perfect if it is a cold late in the season game. White, blue, or even gray Penn State sweatshirts are fine as well, I’ve got them all in my wardrobe. My family and I additionally have PSU caps, t-shirts, and jackets, therefore what ever Penn State gear is needed for that day’s situation, we have.
Next, we load up the vehicle with tailgating gear. The most important products are the fundamental: chairs, grill, coolers, food, and beverages. I have a Penn State Chair which I’ve had forever that i bring to every game, and I use it extensive before and after games. We now have about a two hr drive to State College, therefore we generally leave about 6-7 hours before kick-off.
We have had exactly the same parking place within State College for several years, and it’s where we tailgate with our fellow Penn State fans. We prefer to get there early to set up the actual grill, tables, chairs, and a few games (we love to play corn hole). Fortunately, we have fellow tailgaters with a portable satellite television dish and Televisions so that we are able to watch all the afternoon college football plays (especially Big 10 games) whilst preparing for the big game.
The most important part of tailgating is mingling with close friends, however food preparation and consumption is essential too. We fire up the actual grill early and keep it going all day long. Usually multiple kinds of meats get thrown on, personally I like any kind of red meat to go with my adult drink during tailgating. Remember to have ample ice and mixers.
Tailgating is fun, however I always remind everybody that the main reason we are there is for the game. I love to be within Beaver Stadium 20 minutes before kick-off. This allows me to soak in all the pre-game festivities, such as the teams running out on the field, Joe Paterno’s entrance, and the actual amazing sound associated with 100,000 fans yelling “Let’s Go….Penn State”.
